Here we are in the midst of "passion week" three years after the City of Long Branch, NJ took by court order 162 Broadway. Last April, 2010, the higher court panel of 3 Judges ruled the three ordinances (local law) which were needed to justify the action were illegal and struck by them. The panel also vacated the document necessary to take. They also gave the City, as they did in the MTOTSA ruling an opportunity to present new evidence to cause the taking to become legal. Obviously, they could not in MTOTSA, so they can not in Lower Broadway!

After inspection of 162 Broadway, one year ago and two years after the City took possession and passed title over to Broadway Arts, it was obvious the best course for Lighthouse was to attempt to settle the controversy and release. Terms were agreed upon, yet the actual settlement has not yet occurred. It appears the City continues to disregard the Federal Court finding that they have violated the religious and civil rights of both the church and it's minister.

It was May 9, 2008 when the City of Long Branch filed it's afadavit of taking which gave Long Branch the absolute right to swipe title from the church of 162 Broadway. Since that time the city gave 162 Broadway to Sipersteen Paint owners Larry & Todd Katz who formed Broadway Arts Center LLC.

No correction in the abuse of eminent domain has come from state legislators, so the old abusive laws are still in play against property owner's rights in New Jersey.

Adding insult to continued injury the city is ignoring it's obligation to relocate the Lighthouse. So as it stands nothing is being done to undo the harm.

May God bring justice to this situation.

Happy Holidays to all. The Lighthouse Mission Mobil has located a spot where we will be collecting food stuffs to distribute to needy families.

Canned fruits, vegitables, tuna, meats, sauce. Pasta, rice and paper goods. Are the most helpful items to donate. We will be collecting thru Easter and distributing all next week. We are less than i miles south on 206 from the 70 circle. Unfortunately we can not pick up! To arrange a time to drop off please call 732.665.6583 or email pastorkevinbrown@aol.com.

Eminent Domain of 162 Broadway

We lost our building at 162 Broadway, Long Branch by eminent domain for private gain. The City of Long Branch has siezed the Mission so to give it to the owners of Siperstien's paints. The City declared our entire block a redevelopment zone and gave it all to Broadway Arts LLC. Broadway Arts is the limited liability corp that the owners of Siperstien's paints (The Katz Family) and PAX construction formed to do the development into a theatre district.

We have not been provided a relocation facility so we are operating without home base until such time as "Justice" is served by court order.
